Join PRSSA
Interested in public relations, crisis communication, or brand management? Come to the Public Relations Student Society of America general meetings. PRSSA meets every other Wednesday at 7pm in Meredith 102 with our first meeting being this Wednesday, September 11th. Topics will include welcome, introductions, an overview of PRSSA benefits and busting PR myths. Drake Athletics jobs
Drake University Athletics is hiring for paid crew positions for its ESPN+ productions. Knowledge of sports and live production is helpful, but it is certainly not required. Jobs include student production assistant and reporter. Both are listed on Handshake. Search for numbers 9263288 and 9258758.

Alum Spotlight
Lucius Pham of Iowa Public Radio was mentioned in a story in the Des Moines Register announcing IPR’s revamp of one of its stations into an alternative music format. He will be one of the hosts, as well as a video producer.
BEA Student Networking
Students can sign up for Broadcast Education Association Student Networking Night on Sept. 12 (note the time is 6 pm Central). Students from around the country meet with broadcasters from different aspects of the business to learn about career opportunities. It’s an online networking event with broadcasters hosting virtual tables, and the students move around the space and visit several tables during the course of the hour. It’s very casual and relaxed.
Dow Jones Internships
The Dow Jones News Fund’s summer internship application will open by Sept. 16. College sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students will be able to apply for paid summer internships in audience engagement, data journalism, digital media, business reporting and multiplatform editing.
There will be two information sessions (9/30 and 10/8) about the programs, including the application and selection process; and two test prep sessions (10/2 and 10/11). Students or faculty can sign up here to RSVP or request recordings.
Free Generative AI Update
Professors Chris Snider and Chris Porter will host Fall CornucopAI on Sept. 16. The free lunch-and-learn will catch people up on recent developments in the world of Generative AI. Topics will include customizing LLMS, Anthropic’s Artifacts, recent LLM updates, AI in social media, and recent updates in the AI photos, videos and audio.
